Brad describes himself as is an 'assistant professor of journalism at Muncie, Indiana's Ball State University, where his research examines how emerging technologies are changing the ways we tell -- and share -- stories.'.
Having shared a brilliant evening of stories, philosophical discussion and incredibly bad jokes with Brad and friends, can testify that it is possible to combine passion about work around cutting edge uses of technology with cutting edge humour.
I especially liked the relationship he has with his students he called MINjas (Media Informatics); as he teases them mercilessly, he is reflecting that 'But what we do today can change the tomorrow for the people around us.'.
It reminds me of a core truth, that one of the most effective ways to transform teaching is to look at study someone who role models both the teaching and the attitudes and values underpinning it.

That's really far too kind. I appreciate it + it was lovely to meet you as well. Fiona said we'd get along :)
ReplyDeleteNot kind just true. Vibrant teacher-student relationships make all the difference for most students. Also hilarious so good to meet!
