Have arrived in Austin for SXSW Interactive conference and - guess what - it's a balmy, sunny day. Call me shallow, but it does seem easier to be positive and open toward the large-scale change when the sun is shining! ...
Now, 21st century learning is definitely a massive, if exciting, change for both teachers and learners. So, does weather influence the success of large-scale educational reform? Is there an urgent need for research into whether 21C learning appears to follow the order of sunshine hours per month in various LAs? (A bit like the holiday brochure graphs showing sunshine smileys against each month). I am prepared to offer my services on this one at great personal inconvenience.
Seriously though, Austin does seem to be a place where new ways of thinking can flourish and blue sky thinking prevail. Looking forward to meeting some amazing people and attend some inspirational panels. And dinner.
