This Blog is ...

- the easiest way I can think of to keep track of good stuff at SXSWi Conference 2010, 12th - 16th March; brilliant panel line-up, leading speakers and cutting edge topics (see Hot Links)!

My aim was simply to find out about:
- Emerging technologies for learning
- Emerging ways of using existing technologies for learning
- Emerging ways of thinking about technology and learning
- Meeting some inspirational people who do this thinking ;o)

SXSW Closing Presentation: Bruce Sterling

#SXSW #brucesterling

"Telling the truth is a revolutionary act. But there are only certain times and places when people can handle it. Here is one." (Sterling, SXSWi Conference 2010).

This was the chance for everyone attending sxsw to stand back from the whole festival/conference/mindfest and see the bigger picture. Sterling’s big picture at least. He is a futurologist, grounded in the digital world but with head above the parapet and pointing to the future. His speech attempts to place the digital mindset and valies of the conference in the context of our future world.

Will upload the speech when it appears on the sxsw site, but here’s a few brick-sized quotes from the parapet reflecting his warning that the next generation will point the finger at us for not doing more to solve the same global problems.

“The future is a process not a destination. when you get to 2010, you're just stuck in 2010."

"The first thing we should have open-sourced is food and shelter”.
