This Blog is ...

- the easiest way I can think of to keep track of good stuff at SXSWi Conference 2010, 12th - 16th March; brilliant panel line-up, leading speakers and cutting edge topics (see Hot Links)!

My aim was simply to find out about:
- Emerging technologies for learning
- Emerging ways of using existing technologies for learning
- Emerging ways of thinking about technology and learning
- Meeting some inspirational people who do this thinking ;o)

How to choose the best SXSW panels?

Arrggggh! Just gone through the longest list of panels for Friday to Sunday and clicked on anything that looked relevant.Mon to Wed will have to wait.

This means being at 5 panels at the same time. Then again, it's a virtual world, and most will kindly provide  a podcast in 2 weeks' time,  so no need to conquer space-time travel by Friday.

Most appealing panels so far? There are 3 winners on first scanning:
Third place is...
- Monkeys with Internet Access: Sharing, Human Nature, and Digital Data  - by Clay Shirkey, author of the riveting Here Comes Everybody.

Second Place goes to...
- Content Strategy FTW by Kristina Helvorson - just because she manages in her books so far to mash content strategy into bitesize chunks. Content strategy is still very new stuff and I find her approach just right.

But top of the sxsw panels list so far is ...
Doing it Wrong: Recently Possible Technology - which promises demonstrations 'from guitar player robots to machines that vomit plastic skulls'. If it were a film, I'd be queuing right now.

Clearly, the biggest challenge at SXSW2010 is not the walking around the 5 giant conference halls, it's the filtering of the 600 odd events.

Going for a power nap.

  1. Well, I'm currently reading Connected: The Surprising Power of our Social Networks, so I'd suggest going to see James Fowler on Monday.

But, much more importantly, Motörhead are going to be there!!

And you will be scouting out for interesting speakers for October, won't you?
